Removing Studio from your Mac

First, unpair this Mac. In Studio, Studio ▸ Remove Studio from This Mac… unpairs it from your Hub. Your Hub keeps everything. To pair any Mac with it again, you’ll need your recovery key, near your Hub; without it, only a reset at your Hub remains, and that erases its life.

The remover stops Studio and Studio Base, then removes them and every person’s Studio data on this Mac: their writing here, archived writing included, and this Mac’s keys. Your recovery key stays wherever you saved it, and other software stays. The remover doesn’t clear macOS’s own records of Studio Base: its entry in Privacy & Security ▸ Bluetooth and its item in Login Items & Extensions. Without Studio Base, they allow and start nothing.

Only open the remover if you downloaded it from esmero.ai.

  1. Download. Safari may ask Do you want to allow downloads on “releases.esmero.ai”? Choose Allow. Studio-Remove.pkg arrives in your Downloads folder.
  2. Open it. macOS says “Studio-Remove.pkg” Not Opened, because Apple could not verify it. Choose Done. Its highlighted button is Move to Trash, so don’t press Return here.
  3. Allow it. Open System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security and scroll down to Security. Beside “Studio-Remove.pkg” was blocked to protect your Mac., choose Open Anyway.
  4. Confirm. macOS asks once more: Open “Studio-Remove.pkg”? Choose Open Anyway. Here too the highlighted button is Move to Trash, so don’t press Return.
  5. Your password. macOS warns You are attempting to open an app that may cause harm to your Mac or compromise your privacy, then asks: Enter an administrator’s name and password to continue with Privacy & Security. Use the name and password you sign in to your Mac with, then choose OK.
  6. Remove. The installer opens and carries out the removal. Choose Continue, then Install, and enter your password again when asked. When it says the installation was successful, Studio is gone. Choose Close.

When the Mac itself changes hands, macOS’s own erase is the complete answer.
